Worth the Splurge? Guest Post!

Hi everyone! I’m Shelby, owner of Blog Obsessed XO. My blog is mainly aimed towards beauty and fashion so if you’re into either of those, go take a look I met Bella (Bellynim) through the Makeup Social app and we decided to collab and do a guest post on each other’s blog.
The topic for this post is products that are worth the extra money. We all know that there are so many dupes out there that sometimes we don’t need to spend the extra money, but these are products I feel can’t really be duped. I had a hard time choosing which products to use for this post because I have so many limited edition products that I wanted to write about, but I didn’t feel that would be fair to you in case you weren’t able to get your hands on them. Instead I decided to go with products that are already on the market and available for everyone to purchase!
If you’ve already followed my blog for a little while now, you’ll see some repeats in here because most of these are my holy grails.
Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Mask
This mask retails for $58 for a 5 oz jar. Do you need me to repeat that? Because that’s even a little crazy for me, but honestly this mask not only smells amazing, it also works wonders. It exfoliates and leaves your face feeling soft. This is something that is worth the splurge, even if you try it just once.

NARS Audacious Lipsticks
These are probably the most talked about lipsticks on the market and for good reason. I don’t own any of them (yet) but I plan to own almost all of them. The ones that I have my eyes on are Raquel, Anna, Anita, Barbara, Charlotte, Bette, and Liv. The formula is incredible along with the packaging and longevity. At $32 a pop, these are just as expensive as YSL lipsticks, but well worth it.

Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
I had to try this primer for myself because I saw everyone was raving about it. It is $72 for their jumbo size (2 oz), $52 for 1 oz, and just $18 for the 0.33 oz. Honestly, this is my holy grail primer because it lasts all day and it doesn’t make me oily. After trying the mini size, I think I would absolutely get the jumbo size because it is just that good.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil
My go to bronzer was NYX matte bronzer for a while, but that ran out so I tried the Chocolate Soleil and it is so pigmented and smells exactly like chocolate! It is $30 for 0.35 oz. but it lasts so long, the gold packaging is so beautiful, and it smells amazing. I think I can chalk this up as another holy grail.

Beauty Blender
$20 for a sponge? You’re kidding right? That was my reaction when I first heard about the Beauty Blender, which I’m sure that was most of your reactions as well. BUT! I will say this sponge literally changed the way my makeup looks. Without the Beauty Blender my face just doesn’t look as flawless. If you don’t have this yet or are debating on getting it, GO GET IT!

Lorac Pro Palettes
I’ve heard a ton of debate on Urban Decay Naked palettes and these Lorac Pro palettes. Truthfully, in my opinion, I love Urban Decay as a company, but I have to be completely honest – the Naked palettes are extremely overrated. The Lorac Pro palettes take the cake for best palette. The color selection and the pigmentation in the shadows are just amazing. This is an absolute must have and definitely worth the money.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
I know everyone is obsessing over Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, but I’m over here obsessing over UD Perversion mascara. The brush is so fluffy and unlike any other mascara brush I’ve ever felt and it just makes my lashes look so full and pretty.

Bite Beauty Lip Products
Oh. My. Goodness. This company did it right with their lip products. Their lipsticks are so creamy, pigmented, and not drying. I can’t even deal. Like these lipsticks, in my eyes, are up there competing with NARS Audacious lipsticks in reference to their formulas. The packaging for Bite is a different texture than what most companies produce. It’s hard to describe, but the packaging is grey and it’s matte but soft. Does that make any sense? Ah! If not, go find out for yourself – worth the splurge! Their lipsticks go for $24 each.

The Balm Mary-Loumanizer
This is such a pretty champagne highlight and extremely pigmented. If you don’t have this in your life – get it because you need it. It’s not crazy expensive for a highlighter, but it’s also no drug store price either. This is $24.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner
$20 for an eyeliner might sound ridiculous to those of you that purchase from the drugstore. This might be the only product that might have a drugstore dupe, but I swear by this eyeliner. It has a felt tip and it seriously stays on ALL DAY – hence the name “Stay All Day”. I actually slept in my makeup once (I know, huge no-no, but it doesn’t happen often) and in the morning, I kid you not, my makeup was still perfect and my wing was still on point.
